Suku Pride

Suku means many things in history across many diverse cultures of people. One meaning we celebrate is its connection to Two-Spirit, which refers to First Nation peoples who represented a highly respected role within their culture and social communities.

To learn about Two-Spirit, here are some of our favorite books to add to your Summer reading list:

Changing Ones: Third and Fourth Genders in Native North America
Spirit and the Flesh: Sexual Diversity in American Indian Culture
(FREE Audiobook) Reclaiming Two-Spirits: Sexuality, Spiritual Renewal & Sovereignty in Native America
(FREE Audiobook) A Two-Spirit Journey: The Autobiography of a Lesbian Ojibwa-Cree Elder
Trans Historical: Gender Plurality before the Modern
We Want It All An Anthology of Radical Trans Poetics
Detransition, Baby

Check out our playlist on Spotify that features LGBTQIA+ artists and trailblazers too!
